Welcome to the Multiverse Void.

At long last, the demo for my visual novel, THE MULTIVERSE VOID, released on August 1st. It’s three minutes long, and contains the first scene of the full game, releasing on a TBD date in 2027. Needless to say, it’s been a long road to this moment, and I’m an emotional mess, so I’ve decided it’s a good time to talk about it. We can talk about the elephant in the room first, the girl you met in the demo.

The narrator as a character is seven years old this November. Her real birthday is August 8th… happy almost birthday! She’s a very precocious teenager who’s kind of been forced into maturity due to her role in everything. Her whole life has been something of a fight against the odds, and she’s been given a very unfair hand. You’ve met her at a certain point in her afterlife, sadly. But, I love her. Truly, I do. She’s my favorite character, and we’ve grown up together. I remember when she was (shortly) a white girl with a Chara Gl*tchtale haircut. …Dark days.

I hope the moment I gave you did enough to introduce her to you. If you’ve played the demo (and if not, what are you waiting for?!), you’d know she’s very reluctant to tell her own story. She’s desperate to get her friends’ lives out there, because she loves them, but she has an aversion to telling anyone the truth about her. I can promise, though, that time will come.

And I’d be remiss in not saying here, even though I take every chance to say it again, that she would not be the character she is without Sol_Eclipse’s (mirror pronouns excluding she/her) incredible voice acting. Sol is a very old friend of mine, and they’ve also had the … privilege?????? of watching me write this story since late 2021. When I asked it to voice the narrator maybe a year and a half ago, and I gave it as much of her story as I could, Sol was very enthusiastic and immediately jumped into giving one of the best performances I’ve ever heard from any of my actor friends ever. The narrator suddenly had a very dedicated, trusted friend giving her a voice, and I had hope for the first time that her story could become real. To you, Sol has been voicing her for maybe two seconds, but I can’t remember a time when I couldn’t go to them and say, “hey, do you wanna be in this stupid video I’m making with [REDACTED]’s voice actor???” So, again, as many times as I want to say it, go appreciate @solar-eclipsed on Tumblr, because they are a powerhouse and a very reliable friend I would not be able to do this without.

Now, in other words, I don’t want to spoil too much, but I want to talk about the game going forward. Even though, what I actually want to say is close to nothing. The story is linear and mostly doesn’t involve choices, but there’s eight stories I want to tell, and at first, the connections between them will not be clear at all. What I do want to give you is the list of stories, the pacing involved, and the difference between the narrator and the main character. Because, at times, they are not the same people.

Story 1 is about two stepsiblings who discover a realm behind the walls of their house. Objects come alive and creatures made of goop exist. The memory of someone far away plagues the realm, and it’s manifested into a monster that threatens the balance between the realm and the house itself… if it sounds familiar, then good. It was going to be a DELTARUNE-inspired game before I wrote the rest of the story.

Story 2 is about four kids in a research facility who attempt an escape. We meet the “main” character in this story. That’s all I want to say. Expect the descriptions to keep getting shorter…

Story 3 is about a pageant girl who casts spells.

Story 4 is about an orphan who seeks the help of a chemist.

Story 5 and 6 is a different universe, and an ending for the narrator.

Story 7 is about an orphan who wants to find her family, with the help of chemists.

Story 8 is an ending for both the main character and the narrator.

Well, aren’t you excited!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?! I was so specific with all these! You now know EXACTLY what to expect with THE MULTIVERSE VOID! Let’s go! Let’s do this!!
